Neat Stuff To Look At

ratfistwhat
Ratfist!
Doug TenNapel (Earthworm Jim!) is doing a web comic that is UPDATED DAILY! Woo! He's coming on three months into this venture and-- given his professionalism-- likely to continue this to its conclusion (he's done almost a dozen graphic novels since 'Jim-- go buy them!). Not only is Ratfist as loopy and manic as Earthworm Jim, his daily commentary/blog at the bottom of the strip is often amusing and usually insightful (links to "how I do it" bits). TenNapel and Steve Purcel are two of my favorite comic artists, both of whom are able to pull of "Zany".

The League of Steam
Thanks to Werewolves.com , I found The League of Steam! There are a lot of steampunk-y things out there now, but few people have brought it all together in a creative concept like these guys (and gal). They've made videos, do live performances (they will be at Anime Expo in July, for instance) and have great costumes. Here's a video of their werewolf hunting group in action. I like 'em!

Lastly, via the ever-linked-in [livejournal.com profile] cheetah_spotty is a Japanese theme band whose members wear wolf costumes (heads, really) for their concerts and videos. Pretty decent R&B for a garage band. Plus, wolf costumes!

I used to work with Doug Tenapel at AFT. Long before Earthworm Jim. He was a lead animator, with me and Michele Light. :) Small world!

Neat! I only met him once, in passing, when we had meetings at the same place. All I remember is that he seemed like a really nice guy and that he was TALL. REALLY TALL.

AFT had several Really Tall lead animators -- Michele and I felt like hobbits! Also, they were super talented. Jeremy (can't remember his last name) did the comic ZOMBIE LOVE, Darren Bader is doing well as a bad ass artist, Steve Troop had a bit of success doing MAYBERRY MELONPOOL. And I brought Michele's art with me to ConFurence one year. History! I feel somewhat responsible: I made Comic Con an annual mecca (no one but me regularly went before I came there) and opened the "you can do comics like me, too" door.

*a bit of ego boo*

Wow, a web comic now! daily!
he's a machine!

Met him a number of times, at Comic-con, buying his graphic novels and chatting with him and [livejournal.com profile] gear_halo.

Rat Fist is goofy, and entertaining, and knowing Doug, he wont wuss out making the comic.
