The 4th of July is coming up in a few days. I need to find somewhere to hide with the dogs so they are minimally traumatized. I give them ear-plugs and while this helps R0ndo (he's cool when the booms are muffled), Apache will still be a furry package of fear. She doesn't even like the little "pop" that the speakers make when the computer is turned off (something about square waves, I guess).

Any suggestions within driving range* of Los Angeles appreciated!


*Let's say that reasonable driving range is a couple of hours-- or I'd seriously consider Canada...

Is it really bad in your neighborhood? It was usually pretty light in ours.

I've never had pets who were bothered much by it though.

We face the Valley, so the sound tends to travel up here from quite a ways away. Plus we have stupid teens in the house behind us (behind the pine trees, on the other side of the hill) who have shot off sky-rockets in the past (idiots).
