Still catching up...
A few weeks ago, I was up in the Bay Area to deal with family stuff and to attend a wedding. The latter event was a lot of fun: the bride is a good friend and talented artist (as is the groom, but I was only acquainted with him). The venue was a redwood grove between Santa Cruz and Los Gatos, California. The place is *beautiful* If I ever find Ms. Right, this is definitely on the list of places to get hitched. Along with Hawaii and the Salish Lodge!

The wedding had the usual romantic schmaltz: happy bride and groom, spectacular surroundings and cake and dinner(!). In addition, there was a miniature railroad (hi, Laura!) and a bunch of folks from the good ol', bad ol' indie B&W comics days! It was great catching up with people I hadn't seen in a while: good to see them doing well, though I'm still a bit stunned to see some of them settled down with wife and kids! I'll bet they're the coolest parents!

Love Monkey wine and Kazoos! They also gave out blank fans to the guests and I got the bright idea to have the old gang sign it. See if you can identify any of 'em (at least, those of you who read comics and stuff).

Even though they're not in the post-season, this is the time of the fall classic (and my last excuse to post these this year) so here I go!

After years of putting it off, I -finally- got to see a game at ATT Park! For years I'd been traumatized by seeing Giants games at Candlestick park: a windy, wet stadium that chilled you to your bones-- and those were -day- games! Night games...*brrrrr*. And the 2 hours to get to the parking lot and 3 hours to get out: I just assumed that -all- baseball parks were like that. Fortunately, Calicougar took me to a Seattle Mariners game and that was wonderful: great stadium and simple parking accommodations!

I went with my brother-in-law on a sunny day a couple of weeks before the end of the season. Parking was fine and the crowds minimal (one of the few perks of being out of the pennant race late in the season). There was a cute Corgi puppy outside (this for Karena). The insides lived up to all the hype that I'd heard on tv and radio broadcasts: a bright, airy stadium with stunning views of San Francisco Bay, the East Bay (Oakland) and the China Basin. Viewing was great and the flow wonderful-- I would have been just as happy just walking laps around the stadium while watching the game. Had a Crazy Crab sandwich (expensive, but good) and the usual peanuts and soda. And the Giants won on a two-run double in the bottom of the ninth! Amazingly fine day!

What a fascinating situation (to me, at least).

I'm up late/early, watching the financial world making history (not *good* history, but history none-the-less), emailing reference pictures to someone in Indiana, Georgia and wiring (Paypal, actually) money to a third party in Ireland. And I just witnessed (so to speak) a coordinated fifty-point rate cut by the US, the EU, England, Canada, Sweden and Switzerland-- which was just preceded by seeing Japan's market drop by nearly 10% in one day-- and that was preceded by England partially socializing their financial market. Just over a hundred years ago getting a letter from across the nation in a week was considered outstanding. Amazing times.

Sorry to spam up your friends lists...I guess I'm kind of doofy right now.
