Black Dogs of the British Isles
Feb. 11th, 2008 02:59 pmI was catching up on the fantastic web comic, Gunnerkrigg Court and wanted to learn more about these guys:

Thanks to a quick Google, I found this link about black dogs. Great jumping off point for more research!
Black dog factoid: Did you know that generally across the US, black dogs are the least likely of any color to be adopted from shelters? Some shelters put them down quickly because they know from experience (or superstition or their own bias) that they won't be adopted out.
If I ever get a totally black dog, I'm SO naming her, "Skriker"!

Date: 2008-02-12 07:46 am (UTC)People are dumb sometimes. :-( My little black cat (a rescue kitteh) is incredibly sweet and loving - in fact she's much more cuddly and lovey dovey than her tabby sister! My friend who does cat rescue works says of black cats that people tend to either love them or hate them. That's really sad to me, that people could be so prejudiced (but we see it in other areas too so I guess I should not be surprised.)
