Man, I wish I knew about THIS earlier! I really want to make a Tauren costume for it. I'm not surprised that they finally have a WoW con, but I would have thought there would be more publicity. And it's -local-!

Ironically, I neither play WoW nor have the slightest idea what the prize is (I'm a Mac-head). But still! They have a Costume Contest!! An excuse to make a stinky minotaur costume!

Unfortunately, while I could probably poop out a pretty decent costume in that time, they're apparently -sold out- of tickets for the event! There's some mention of "more tickets becoming available in the future" or at the site, but I hate that kind of uncertainty. I'll keep an eye out...anyone else going?

[EDIT: *Aieeee!* The Offspring is doing their closing concert! I -really- want to go now!]

It's so expensive...the $80 ones are sold out already? Seems like they just announced those.

They sold the $120 tickets before letting people know about the $80 ones. Lots of people were pissed at that.

I'd be -happy- to buy someone's ticket off them! Wonder if any are going to show up on Ebay or a ticket-trading site? You should come down for this!

Gahh..I'm such a WoW geek. I'm down to about an hour of play time a night usually when I get home from work. Admittedly, I'm hooked! I never used to be into games until the roomie introduced it to me. Here's my character: http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a145/Jonnywoof/ScreenHunter_1.jpg
I didn't want to spam up your journal any worse than I have. and yes, that's a wolf's head he's wearing...tons of work and long hours wasted to get to that point. :) I understand that I can also get a wolf to ride too. I need to check into that.
You should seriously make a Tauren next year...he'd be a big hit at Blizzcon. :)

It shouldn't be too hard to find a ticket broker or tickets for sale on EBay. There's a broker in Westwood I used to use for all the concerts I went to.

Hmm hmmmmm! Lance, take a look at that screenshot. I know you have wolf heads lying around, if you wanted to make a character wearing one of these helms it'd be a great shortcut.

Also I know the body shape is tricky, I dont know if you have any suit parts that would work, but another well-known monster you might like to do is the Moonkin.

It's an owlbear.

OMG if THOSE were the winners previously you could POOP on any of your costumes and win!!!

*giggle* SEriously, modify one of your older wolf heads, easy enough. :) That's a nice computer they are putting out for prizes.

GOODLUCK and have fun,the place is TOO pricey, and I dont even play WOW... I cant believe I hadn't heard of this before.. Maybe next year it will be done right.

OMG, if you do that, want your murloc pet...

Every person you attends gets a grab bag of goodies. A murloc pet is one of them, and I'd give my left arm to have one. Okay, not really, but I want that murloc!!!

If I go, it's yours! Although, won't they become more common if they're giving them to everyone? Like those Neopets rare pets that plummeted in price when they were prizes in the advent calendar?

Also, I need a mailing addy for you-- if you could email it to me I'd appreciate it! If you don't still have my email, you can always get it from Zor or Tracy (still paranoid about spammers stealing email addies from LJ posts!)

Ahggg! Those antlers! Those feathers! Although I like your thinking: I was going through WoW sites as well as StarCraft and Diablo sites to see if there wasn't some character that I could modify. I could possible take a werewolf body and add hooves and a cow head to do a Tauren. Or I could just take the grey werewolf and add a bunch of gratuitous bones and stuff and try for the "most creative" category.

If I did a full-on Tauren, I would want to do riser-feet (at least a foot, maybe more) to add height (that would be the most time-consuming part of modifying an old suit to a Tauren-- the feet!). Wish I'd found this earlier!

I've known of cons that actually ran out of memberships (limited by space/fire-marshall regulations), so running out of tix isn't that much of a stretch for me. Just rare (and means the people running the con grossly underestimated the attendence/venue).

Is that good or bad? I'm told it isn't the latest and greatest from Alienware, but it's still got some pop. I think a better first prize would have been a life-time (or at least a year's) free Warcrack subscription. Not that I play...but still!

Apparently this is at least the second year: there are pics from the past show. Of course, there's also a very good chance that a bunch of great costumers will have the same idea and really push the envelope into the stratosphere. If I tried anything (with minimal work), it would be to take the grey werewolf and add a bunch of shamenistic-geegaws to it. I need to read the rules: I still have a bunch of the werewolf fetish items but I don't about how they feel about making everything yourself.

A lifetime warcrack subscription could be worth it
But it's only $15 a month, so a year amounts to $180.

That Alienware system typically runs $1300.
Sure your costumes prolly cost more than that but you did look at last years winners right?

You could smoke them easy.

Now that I think about it, I could just modify the Frost/Deer suit: it already has split hooves: I'd just need to make hands and a head for it. Unfortunately, I'd probably have to make it a female Tauren, since it's too slight a build for those massive males. Plus it's a poofy white color.

Is your email address still malehawk@lookwellowolves.com? :D

And the murlocs are only available to Blizzcon attendees, and so far will only be available to them, unless Blizzard releases them to the general public later on. Which I sort of doubt they'd do... The Collector's Edition of WoW included 3 pets that are not available to people who bought the regular version of WoW.

Sorry about the wait. All the servers were down for maintenance, and they did a MASSIVE patch to the game. I don't have your email offhand, so I stuck the pics up on Photobucket.

His name is Emissary Koman'khan, and he's found in the desert of Sithilis. He's been addded into the game since the last patch that Blizzard did.
