Saturday a rainstorm passed through with some lightning and steady rain in the AM. Rondo wasn't thrilled, he's not an all-weather dog like Frieda was (but a walk is a walk). And it made for some dramatic pictures.

My favorite AZ plant: the Ocotillo!

shoppingsedona

JC and I headed into Sedona while it was still wet out, stopping at "The Center for the New Age" for crystals, readings, etc. Whether you believe in this stuff or not, it's fun. I got Rondo and my auras photo'd. Very exciting (walking Rondo through a crowded shop filled with expensive, fragile crystal trinkets, not the reading...). Rondo apparently has an entity watching over him.

Sedona is made up of clusters of shopping villages. Plenty of art and stuff to look at (even buy). At one point JC noticed how ironic it was that the Real World scenery reflected in a gallery window was far superior to the dramatic landscapes being displayed (my point-and-shoot camera wasn't up to the job--JC's pics will look far better!).

After our fill of galleries and shops, we headed out to take the archetypical Sedona shot: Cathedral Rock reflected in Oak Creek.

The day was perfect for dramatic lighting but one had to be patient. Eventually the sun peeked out and JC was able to get that perfect shot .

Rondo found ways to amuse himself while we sat around...

Cocky in his cuteness, Rondo is all, " I'm handsomer than that old pile of rocks , right?"

Uh...no, buddy: this time the rocks are more spectacular ...

Rondo: Humph! .

Looking the other way I saw a dramatic sky . The beauty of this place is everywhere you turn. Amazing.

After getting that perfect shot, we rushed over to Boyer Canyon for a quick hike and another dramatic picture.

That evening we had a fantastic *meat* feast at the Cowboy Club . Despite the sappy name, the food is great and there's a lot of western art on the walls.
