Superbowl Sunday-- NOT

So does anyone have any polite suggestions for stuff to do on Superbowl Sunday? I'm not a big football fan, so usually me and my nerdy friends head out to some venue that is normally packed. In the past it had been Disneyland: you could literally -walk- onto rides, even the newer ones. These days, others have figured that one out and D'land is busier than normal on SBS.

The beach? In previous years we'd take the dogs there, but Frieda'd not enjoy it as much these days and few of us are sun-worshipers.

Anyone? Anyone? Class?

It's tempting, even though D'land is more crowded than ever on Superbowl Sunday. And I've come to look at Mouseland as a date-destination (I'm done with tandem rides with friends or strangers!). Good to hear the shows are all running; what is their current parade these days?

Currently we have two small cavalcades that are running prior to the opening of two new large scaled parades to debut on May 5th 2005 for the 50th Anniversary of Disneyland.

The first is Mickeys Shining Star Cavalcade. It's essentially a Character flood with a few dancers, the Princesses in a Fire Truck and a the catchy tune from a previous show called "One Mans Dream.

The second which is more notable and enjoyable is, the Princess Celebration which parades up and down Main Street with a show stop and audience participation moment in front of the Castle. This one has a few new float units, some new costumes, and all the Princesses and Princes you can shake a stick at. It really is a nice change from previous cavalcade offerings like Mickey's Shining Star and Mickey Birthday Cavalcade.

The final one which has unfortunetly been suspended due to several issues including casting and budget was a Mary Poppins Celebration.

Parade Of Dreams and Block Party are both looking very good and are currently auditioning this weekend. By the looks of it, they will be having pick up audintions in the coming weeks becasue there are too many opportunities still open for male skilled performers.

Although I may seem to be a stranger, I did introduce myself to you at FC 2005, but I am sure a lot of other people did too so it's understandable. Anyways, I hope you have a great day whatever you decide to do. The offer still stands, anytime your interested ,just let me now in advance.

I'd also like to mention that the Aquarium of the Pacific is a nice local diversion that is not too pricey and a great little getaway along with shopping and dining in Long Beach.

I'm sorry-- I missed that you actually -work- at the park! That's cool-- what area do you work in?

Thanks for the parade info: I like to see the new parades and see what they've come up with, costume-wise. A big chunk of what I've learned in costuming is studying parade and ice-show costumes (which need to be tough, yet allow the performer to do an ice routine or parade route).

I'm terrible with names and faces...triply so when I rarely see some people out of costume or hear their RL names. And I'm slow to add to the LJ list: it's nothing personal, but the list is the people I hang out with and share interests with. If someone friends me and I don't know them, I'll poll their journal for a few weeks to see if we share enough interest. Even then, some people I either don't add or remove because it's clear we share no interests or they have cluttery journals (only memes or HUGE posts about stuff I'm not interested in or no posts at all). Has little correlation as to whether I like them as people or not.

Wow-- thanks for the props! Yeah, I think I over-committed at FC this year. I had a better time last year when I hung out a lot more.

Maybe you can answer a question about the D'land costumes that I've been trying to figure out for some time now: many years ago, when they released "Oliver and Company" they made a set of costumes of the main characters, including Oliver, Dodger, Einstein, Tito and Georgette. Did they also make costumes of Rita, Roscoe (or DeSoto) or Francis? I saw the parade they were in on a weekday, and it's possible that I saw the small crew (as opposed to the weekend full complement). Any info would be appreciated!

They have a Francis too! Uber cute. He was on on the back of the float tucked away where not many could see him. No Rita/Rosco
