Superbowl Sunday-- NOT

So does anyone have any polite suggestions for stuff to do on Superbowl Sunday? I'm not a big football fan, so usually me and my nerdy friends head out to some venue that is normally packed. In the past it had been Disneyland: you could literally -walk- onto rides, even the newer ones. These days, others have figured that one out and D'land is busier than normal on SBS.

The beach? In previous years we'd take the dogs there, but Frieda'd not enjoy it as much these days and few of us are sun-worshipers.

Anyone? Anyone? Class?

Buster and I just got back from the beach. We're not terribly fond of the sun either and by the time car repairs were over it was 4pm so by the time we ate, fueled up and got to the beach it was really dark but luckily where we went was close enough to Santa Cruz so the low clouds and ambient light pollution made it bright enough to see. Quite fun actually! I have not been to the beach at night in ages, I forgot how fun it was. I'm sure it wasn't dark to Buster tho.

I would suggest some state park or national forest that allowed dogs.. up in the hills somewhere. I've not been to LA much so I'm afraid I'm not too much help. Heh, I forgot it was SBS..shows how much attention I pay to US sports :P

Love the beach at night! Salty dogs! We'd normally use one of the parks for a hike, but most of 'em are still closed because the rain damaged the trails (which we saw first hand-- they're thrashed!). Snow would be nice, too, but I think it's mostly gone.

I read your report on them. It really is a shame there was so much damage. Did they post any potential dates for opening the trails again?
How far north and east do you have to go to get into the Sierra snow range? If it is anything like around here you really don't want to do that on a weekend tho because you get into the crowd that is escaping the city for some ski action. Ugh.
