Snakes and Gnolls
Apr. 11th, 2003 04:29 pmYay! The new Harry Potter DVD is out today! Now I can get some screen grabs of Lucius's cane. I've been dying to sculpt a copy, but only had one reference photo. I want to make some costumes, but to be honest, I'm not sure if I've got the nerve to actually -wear- them! Also, since most of these costumes are "people clothes", it's mostly a matter of gathering the pieces. A friend is knitting me a set of scarves and I think I have a cape/robe pattern that will work. Hooray for RenFaires! I still need to do some research, tho'. Like reading the rest of the books...! I'm not sure what the professors wear, or if it's just about anything they want. I'd like to just put together a student costume, but I'm way too old for it not to look weird. Plus the professors can have original themes. I have all this material for a (Andrew Lloyd Webber) Phantom roleplay that I was going to do that would be perfect for this. Thank goodness Lockheart broke the "black on black" theme at H's!
I'm also trying an experiment in quick-&-dirty costuming. Someone I know is trying to get me to go to a large LARP and I'm half-convinced: their group is going to be gnolls! So I'm trying to see how quick, cheap and decent I can make a gnoll outfit. They won't be anything special: just slightly modified heads I have molds for, but hopefully I'll trick them out decently!
