HALLOWEEN 2013!

Once again, I anticipate my favorite holiday and, in the end, do very little. The trouble with Los Angeles is that either the events are tiny and mundane or HUGE AND LOUD AND DRUNKEN. There used to be parties thrown by people in the effects business that were pretty cool, but I haven't heard of one in years. My favorite event is for the dogs, literally.

My boys went as a Sci-Fi Channel Low-budget Movie Special: ORCA vs RAPTOR! (<--you just wait: that WILL be a Sci-Fi Channel movie in the future...and I'll bet these costumes are better than the CG effects Sci-Fi will use!)

Ha! Before even reading the text, I saw that first photo and immediately was thinking some kind of Sharknado reference.

Yep-- our lives are one, big, cheesy Sci-Fi flick! So happy!

I was wondering if I might see you at the big L.A. costume thing.. it wasn't *too* drunken.. Been close to a decade since I went... musta been a million people there, give or take... 8|

Which big L.A. costume thing? West Hollywood? Hollywood?

My experience with those kinds of things (when I wear, say, a werewolf): the first ten minutes are of people grabbing me and, in a slurred voice, "OMG I gotta get a pic of this guy...oh how camera work?...wait, lemme get another...(five minutes for each shot because they can't operate camera...okayIgothis..."

Repeat, in quick succession about ten times. Most of them groping to see if I'm a guy or a girl or just because they think it's hilarious to grope the big werewolf. And the groping is better than the guys who think it's hilarious to punch the giant wolf because, hey-- we're just joking!

Having drinks spilled on me.

Making about ten feet of progress because of the people grabbing and demanding photo-ops.

Two hours of this...and really, I had been done in fifteen minutes.

Wow...
Sounds like you at least gave it a try... but eccch..... ;P

This is really maybe only the 3rd or 4th time I've tried it... The first time I went was about 15 years ago with a girl who had told me about it, and it wasn't near as crowded ...*plus* it was actually rather fun then.. I had a minimal costume on (just an eagle mask) and the comments very hilarious, plus the event seemed to have some focus... This time it seemed like it's just gotten so huge it's just hard to make it anything more than a slow moving wave of people, with a few bands playing in the background..

On the other hand, nothing horrible happened, I didn't get groped or boozed, and I ran into some friends from Disney ... so aside from one club blaring uncensored rap music (clearly not a kid-friendly event), it wasn't as bad as what happened to you.... yikes...

I don't think it was *quite* as fun as I thought it'd be though.. prolly not going back for a lonnnnng time....

The raptor looks a bit dubious!

She is totally dubious. But if it means extra treats, she's grudgingly game.

R0ndo is a total good sport about it...but mostly he just ignores whatever silly thing I put on him.
