For Christmas this year I got...

...a rock. And I'm happy as a clam in mud. This year's theme for me was "A Charlie Brown Christmas," a reaction to the out-of-control buying and commercialism the holiday has become. Some of the decorated houses made me ill: I don't mind elaborate displays, but there were so many houses that had no design or theme sense at ALL. Just a gazillion lights thrown over every lump in the yard, and every inflatable, cut-out and animated piece of junk they could fit in. eck. Maybe it's a sign of getting old, but I was calm, relaxed and happy this year without the shopping frenzy. I'm sure this will change if I get an SO/family, but for me, right now, this is fine. I've got plenty of good friends and things to be grateful for. Highly recommended way to go, even if this would send the country into a retail tailspin.
Christmas dinner was spent at the Zor's Island of Misfit Friends Comedy Christmas. I went expecting ho' chickens, wonderbread and cool-whip canapes, and twinkies...and instead partook in a wonderful dinner of sage-roasted chicken, cron, Trilogy Rice, xmas cookies and diet coke. The company was very pleasant and (since it was someone I rarely see) there was much catching up and lively discussions about hyenas and spiders and trainwrecks. The crabs got worms to devour and the sky was clear and frosty when we walked off the meal. Thanks to Roz and Dwight and Okojo and Octantis!!!
PS-- Frieda *devoured* the left-overs! She approves too!
