PetExpo Orange County 2011

petexpo2011

I'm just about to head out to my third day of working the Border Collie Rescue booth at the PetExpo in OC today. My job is walking and pimping dogs. Another nice group of dogs. I earned enough points to get a smoked turkey leg (which my own legs somewhat resembled after 8hrsx2days of running around).

More details later-- but if you're looking for a one-stop pet finder, this is the place! (And the last day)

Oh man if I went there I'd probably come out with a million dogs.

That spaniel sleeping is AWWWWWWWWW

There were some awesome dogs up this year, though we didn't adopt out as many as last year. FYI, I do keep an eye out for good trail dogs: I don't know if or when you and/or Skorzy will be ready, but if one comes up and I know you're ready I'll point you to him/her.

Saturday was so hot the Springer puppy melted...

We probably won't be ready until we move out of his dad's house. As ideal as this place is to have a dog, we don't really want to add stress on his dad. Thank you for keeping on a look out though :3

And I like lazy dogs XD I'm not much for the high strung type, so something like a cocker mix or even a larger variety of spaniel that can be both fun to play with and go on walks/camping trips with but also calm down and cuddle is my ideal. My late dog was a cocker/bichon.

And awww poor melty puppy. I'd have scooped him up into a cup and taken him home XD So cute!

It looks like a dental speculum to hold the jaw open while the dentist files the teeth down. some horses get uneven wear on their teeth, so the filing is to take an uneven edge off so they can chew better.

Probably correct! The guy had an impressive display of horse skulls with dental anomalies and was also getting people to sign some petition against limiting people who work on horse teeth to -only- dentists and vets. I just thought it looked creepy-cool.

Possibly...it was the Anaheim Canine Unit doing demonstrations with their dogs.

I -think- there's an equivalent (if not the exact same org) Pet Expo that takes place in either San Jose or SF. It's worth a few hours to see the new products and look at all the rescue animals. Weather is probably a LOT nicer up there, too.

SF does have a pet expo and there's Bark in the Park in San Jose. I didn't get a chance to go to the SF Expo back in Feburary (there was an out of state guest who wanted to go to a gem show more). Bark in the Park is usually held in September.

The gem show was interesting though. I got some rocks that glow neon pink under a black light.

This one probably wouldn't make you a lot of money (esp. re: expenses), but it you want to go, you could stay with us and head down when I did! That would at least save you hotel and Finn would love the yard and my crazy borders.
