Tsunami Japan

I'm awestruck and horrified watching the tsunami footage from Japan. A catastrophe in slow motion. The Northridge quake was only (!) a 6.8-- I have a hard time getting my head around an 8.9

The Christchurch photos and the stories coming out of New Zealand were nightmarish; this footage is nearly as terrible to watch. I hope the alarms sounded soon enough to save lives.

Also, thoughts and prayers that [livejournal.com profile] kyubikitsy and her family are all right in Hawaii.

I can't look at the earthquake photos without starting to feel shaky and tearful. I feel terrible for the people in New Zealand and Japan, and anywhere else there has been a big 'quake recently.

It's horrible. The Pacific Rim is really on the move right now.

Man, your post was the first I'd heard of it. The videos are insane. We have family friends in Japan and I have friends on the west coast of Hawaii. Am hoping they are all ok. Hope your friends are ok too.

Seen a few vids this morning... horrific.

Christchurch, Sendai, let's hope this isn't a chain of quakes working its way around the Rim!

Thankfully my family are safe a few 100kms away in Osaka.

Seeing the wave of debris rushing along the ground towards cars desperately trying to get away was harrowing. Nothing you can do in the face of that :(
