Tezuka, pt.2

Part two of three on my favorite of Osamu Tezuka's works.

Again, I'm not sure what the title of this work is (though it's volume 4 of "The Best Of" series of Tezuka's works). Fred Patten would be the person to ask about anything-manga.
This story involves a boy and his jackal-y wonder dog and a supernaturally powerful leopard. He and two other trained dogs are hired to hunt down a she-leopard who has been causing trouble. Fairly straight- forward story about a dog-hero (with an unusual twist as to how he defeats the evil she-leopard). Again, I like the designs and the story.
Hey, Calicougar!
At one point one of the dogs is trapped and beset by vipers...and for some reason this really reminded me of Cody and his reaction to a vicious straw wrapper on a recent dogwalk...heh. (Just replace snakes with straw wrappers or Red Vines)

These are some panels I've put together for an idea of what this looks like.

And if you want to see full pages (fairly small...each is about 170K), check these links out:

There are the long series like "Princess Knight," "Kimba" and "Astro Boy" (and number of other, more obscure, long-running series). Then there are the shorter works. Some were more experimental or political, some were just great fun. I'm going to run bits on my four favorite series (four-- I'd forgotten about "Vampire!"), two of which you've just seen.
