Cirque Berzerk!
Aug. 2nd, 2009 10:47 amI finally discovered what the weird tent in the cornfield is about (cornfield=Los Angeles State Historic Park). Weird tent with flying eyeball spewing gouts of flame. Curious.

For weeks I've been driving past the weird tent on my way tootaku heaven purchase cultural references in Little Tokyo, but only just remembered to google it yesterday.
Turns out this is a goth-caberet-vaudville-Burning-Man-kindofthing . The event looks really cool and they extended their run through August 9th, so I could still theoretically go. The problem is who to go with: theater--no problem (plenty of people who'd be interested); bug or pet shows-- again, not a problem; art film-- no prob. But an edgy, goth-thing? I draw a blank. If I had been more on the ball I might have talked Iisaw & Carol into going, but durr-me, I hadn't looked it up.
The reviews are mixed, but the show sounds interesting. Here another review with more pics. Here's a decent blog-review.
Not sure if I'll make it down (only a week left), but I thought I'd throw it out there for anyone else who might find this interesting.

Date: 2009-08-03 09:13 pm (UTC)Re:Cirque Berzerk-- I'm going on Thursday with iisaw! According to the reviews, there are no bad seats-- so you can get the $25 tix and have a great time. I'm told that the vaudville bar/caberet that runs before, after and through intermission is excellent also.
So if you're trying to keep this low: $50 for tix (2X$25); $60 motel (Motel 6 Hollywood or Sylmar #356--check in on your way down); plus $25 for movie tix. I'd recommend seeing the film at the Arclight Hollywood: reserved seating! No lines! (and I checked: GI Joe has a midnight show)

Date: 2009-08-07 04:52 am (UTC)I appreciate the support and I do enjoy finding out more about you as well. I wish that we had more chances to meet up RL as that is always the most rewarding to me.
I guess you have figured out by now I couldn't come down. Money and time issues. The past few days have been insane. :P Today was spent stitching up the dog from a fight between two of ours. I have a rescue pit bull who is a darling dog except with Kody..they are mortal enemies. He's fine with everyone and everything else we've introduced him to. Figures the Malamute would be the problem, he is too stupid to be dominant and most of the other dogs who have been around the house just ignore him, the pit bull didn't take kindly to being snapped at all the time and thus it stated. Malamute 3, Pit Bull 1. I shall never underestimate the battle prowess of a retarded sled dog again. He's won every fight..well was winning till we pulled them apart. *sigh*
Thank you for the list of theaters and I would have LOVED seeing it down there. I'm headed down for the NARBC reptile show next month so I'll be down there then. I hope we can meet up! I miss talking with you!
