This was the big commission I was working on before the convention. I'm so happy with how he turned out: I had great designs to work from and Lynette and I managed to incorporate some innovations into his design. The costume has a full musclesuit under all that fur. Not terribly visible in still shots, but when it moves the muscles roll nicely under the fur. The commissioner was happy with the result and that is always a great relief. Making this costume was a needed retreat from a lot of other stuff going on. Thank goodness for hobbies!

Date: 2009-02-06 03:15 pm (UTC)I'm also sad I only got to see you for like, 2 seconds in passing at FC :( You walked by my table rushing to get something finished carrying a bolt of purple fabric, and I was heads-down getting some art done. SO BUSY US BOTH! I tried finding you later, but you had vanished :(

Date: 2009-02-06 07:34 pm (UTC)Yeah-- I'm bummed about lack of Jen-time, too! Every year I think I've cut back on commitments so that I'll have time to hang out more, and every year I'm dead wrong. Having a dealer's table limits things (unless you're neighbors) and both of us having tables makes it nearly impossible. *Plus* you're TOO popular! Always an impenetrable band of fans around you lavishing themselves on you.
I tried finding you later, but you had vanished
I am a man of mystery and lint...
I need to get out to an east coast con again. I just hate boarding the boys.

I was under the impression this stuff was your livelyhood. :) But cool nonetheless. Thanks for sharing man.

Date: 2009-02-06 07:39 pm (UTC)Oh good grief, no-- thank goodness. I had a chance years ago to make this a profession, but realized that I loved making costumes and a big part of loving it was that it -wasn't- work or livelihood-related. A friend who does do this professionally gave me the opportunity and I realized that much of the stuff I'd be doing would not be all that fun (and dealing with corporate art directors-- blech). So I kept the day job and just do stuff I think would be fun.
