Spring Awakenings (musical)

It's been an energy-sucking couple of months, but me and the dogs are weathering it as well as can be hoped. Things aren't as bad as they can be (family stuff), but man, I'm tired!

Fortunately things have stabilized and I'm back home for a bit a least. Right now I'm focused on a commission (having much fun with this--it's cool!) and trying to help the dogs achieve their potential (I've been a lax owner). I'll post on the neat stuff next time, but for now I'll leave you with a song that I believe many of my friends will enjoy.

We went to see a musical last night called, "Spring Awakenings," (it won the Tony last year). Overall, kind of "eh" for me: it's a good show, but definitely a theater-lovers kind of musical (too sophisticated for me-- no "hum-able" tunes, etc.). Some have called it this generations' "HAIR" but I'm not too sure about that nomination.

There is one song that almost makes the whole show worth it (to me). The set up is that a student has been confronted with a set of notes he wrote that have been associated with a student's suicide (his best friend). The song is titled, simply, Totally Fucked! I know people who would really emphathize with the singer (having been in no-way-to-wriggle-out-of-it situations). Here's a version on Youtube:

Glad to see you're OK...do we get to see photos of the shiny commission the shiny commission?

Pics as soon as the commissioner debuts the costume (it's the polite thing to do!). Hopefully that will be sometime in January.

You might well enjoy "Spring Awakenings"-- there are a lot of themes and songs that might hit some chords with you. Check it out or borrow the CD from someone if you can.
