Fast Food Meme and ex-bunnies

I've seen the fast food meme that's making the rounds. I've also noticed that the lists don't seem to be the same. Also a definite Western bias: no Mosburger or Curry House or any Asian or South American chains, for example.
I'm so un-picky about my food that I'm more ashamed than proud to say that I've eaten at almost all of these places. Favorites? Uh-- I'd take a good independent anything over most of these chains. At best, they pack no surprises; at worst...uhg. I usually eat at them when friends want to go or for lack of any locals to steer us toward something better.
The ones I -haven't- tried:
Hardee's: I probably have eaten there, but it was -that- memorable.
Kelsey's: Canadian Dennys-- no thanks.
Oporto, Red Rooster: Haven't been to Australia in many years-- Oporto sounds interesting, at least.
Skyline Chili: I avoid Ohio whenever possible; I'll bet even Roz hasn't eaten here!
Tim Horton's: Same as Kelsey's and Hardee's-- could have eaten there but totally unmemorable.
White Castle: These scare me.
Speaking of nasty food: looks like one of the yard bunnies (the trespassing wild rabbits that nibble the back lawn) made a fatal error last night. They're used to my dogs barking and chasing them off...and not killing them. They've gotten complacent and that cost one of them: I found a half-eaten carcass outside my office window ("What's that smell?!!") and some...bunny insides...on the lawn. Positive it wasn't my guys: they are more confused than anything when they actually corner a rabbit or squirrel; they just want to chase and herd. I guess the rabbit got used to the noisy, barking dogs (that only chase, and not very well) and a lucky coyote waltzed in and had himself some hossenpfeffer.

Date: 2008-10-07 06:08 pm (UTC)Hardees is owned by the same group as Carl's Jr, but the menu is somewhat different. I remember getting "Surge" on tap at one in the Mall of America.
I had White Castle last time I was in Columbus, and it was rather disappointing. I'm afraid to check out Krystal again, I fear they've also had a downturn. I am curious about Skyline Chili. I'm actually going to Ohio post-MFF (I have a Thanksgiving invite in Columbus) and might try Skyline.

Date: 2008-10-07 06:21 pm (UTC)Man, I remember Pho Hoa in Vietnamese town! I guess that's "fast food" but it was so good. Shawn and I would make trips often down there.
There was a Curry House in Torrance but I wouldn't really consider it fast food. Was there another version?
"Fast food" we eat here- there's a taco place here called Tacos Tumbras. They're the closest thing to Baja Fresh I've found here. Reeeaally good tacos. While the inside of the restaurant is sit-down, they do have a drive-through window.
Another place we eat at is called D'Lish's burgers (Or maybe D.Lish's). Their burgers and fries are almost exactly like In-N-Out! In fact they have the same kind of menu- double-double, triple-triple, etc.

Date: 2008-10-07 06:30 pm (UTC)Yeah! Pho Hoa should be on that list! They have them in Washington and California.
Curry House: not all of the restaurants are fast food-- some are Denny's-type chains. I'm not sure what the qualification for being on the list is (no one has posted that), but I'm guessing that it has to be widespread, over a few states or small countries, at least (like the ones in Australia [not small physically, but isolated] and France).
Okay...Baja Fresh I do like. Great salsas, too.
D'Lish: Oooo-- that will make some InO fans happy!~ I can't stand them...and I like crispy, crappy McD fries, not the oily soft ones.

Date: 2008-10-08 02:08 am (UTC)I only ate at Skyline once, but couldn't you get the chili on spaghetti? ohio did so many bad things to Italian food...

Date: 2008-10-08 07:58 am (UTC)You've convinced me I'm not missing anything with Skyline Chili-- I find most restaurant (chain-type) chili kind of nasty. Oddly, I like Wendy's chili the best of any of them.
Sausage...mmmmm....

Date: 2008-10-07 09:03 pm (UTC)Carl's bought them out years ago. Before the change, they used to have some pretty good burgers. Mushroom and swiss burger on sourdough. Mmmm!
