furtech: (nodurian!)
I went to Califur to deliver a costume and see some folks. I hardly ever get to spend quality time with Dark Natasha or Terrie Smith: at a small con like Califur it's a lot easier to catch dinner with them (they're usually doing homework after their dealer-room stint).

The best thing about this con was that the hotel was sharing space with people attending the KROQ Weenie Roast. KROQ is best known for the whole "Rock of the Eighties" format and what I pretty much exclusively listened to at that time and into the '90's. Much to my surprise, the KROQ and furry fans alike seemed to get along in generally good humor. [livejournal.com profile] skorzy mentioned in his journal that some members the Stone Temple Pilots tried to crash the furry dance, but were kicked out (too bad: I would have loved to have seen that!).

Sure enough, there are several mentions of the amicable clash of cultures online:

Furries.
