"Le Boit des Vierges" or, Tudor Wolves!
Feb. 12th, 2010 01:52 pmThe biggest surprise at FC this year was when a friend of
martes showed her a French comic he'd found. The title is Le Boit des Vierges (The Virgin Woods) and the story takes place in a Tudor-era world where humans exist with anthropomorphic animals-- the High Beasts (wolves so far) and the Low Beasts (foxes and lynx so far).

I was blown away. This is easily my favorite comic to date: it is an amazing blend of humans and animals; graphic battles and romance; story and character. There is a great wiki article on the book , with the story summarized and a character guide. You can order it from Amazon France or wait until Amazon Canada re-stocks.

Another reason I like this so much? The costume possibilities are tantalizing...

( My brief review of the book )
