Last Sunday was the Burbank Best Friends Adoption Faire . I brought Apache (to see her breeder) and Rondo, though they spent most of their time in kennels (too many people!) unintentionally acting as "lead-ins" at the Border Collie Rescue booth. The day couldn't have been more perfect: cool, but sunny! Blue skies and a light breeze.

As rescue faires go, this was pretty big: not only were there a lot of dogs and cats (they had their own seperate area on another level), but there were also a LOT of other animal groups, including bunnie-rescue and parrot rescue .

The cat area even had a cat meet&greet tent ! Some of the cats were mellow and others were shy , but there seemed to be an animal for everyone here.

Here's a Baron-clone that was really sweet. Hey, [livejournal.com profile] calicougar, did you ever check out the Westside GSD rescue ? They seemed more down-to-earth than the uppity folks in Burbank. They had a LOT of dogs and most of them were HUGE!

The BCR folks adopted out 8 dogs! Good job!

When I wonder what I could have been thinking when I let Apache eat our friend's dog food, all I have to do is look at this sequence of pictures to remember how desperately cute she was trying to get into Sarah's (the dane-Great Pyr mix) food.

Apache had found Sarah's open bin of kibble and the top was -just- out of her reach. In the third picture she's doing a kind of "Fosdale-flop", straining sideways over the edge of the bin. Eventually she just managed to climb into the bin and munch away. Sarah was non-plussed, to say the least.

Here is that same sequence, annotated

A bigger version of the above.
