Sedona, pt.4

Before we headed out of Sedona we wanted to find at least one of the so-called "vortex" spots. The most famous and accessable is known as the Airport Vortex. Originally located right on the runway of the airport, this proved inconvenient and unsafe for planes and Vortex-lovers alike, so sometime in the late Eighties a large group of spiritually inclined people sat on the runway and "moved" the vortex so that it is now located in a far safer location. I don't make 'em up-- I just pass 'em along...
We were lucky: there was a kid who was dowsing for the vortex (he must have been about eight). Rondo had no idea what he was doing, so he kept a suspicious eye on the kid:

The center of the vortex (it drifts a little all the time) was apparently here . I'm kind of a Mulder on this thing: I haven't seen anything to convince me yet, but I -want- to believe. My foot did feel better that it had earlier. Go fig.
The Airport Vortex -is- where I finally realized why I had been so enchanted with the area: it was another sci-fi moment (like the windmill farm). Sedona is -exactly- how I'd always pictured a terraformed Mars ! The red soil and rocks make a striking base for the blue sky and green trees. C'mon-- can't you picture it? Mars colonized!

This could be a colony .

While JC was taking pictures and interviewing the family of the boy who was dowsing, Rondo and I took a walk on the loop trail. As we walked past the vortex spot, Rondo had a sudden revelation.
" No, Rondo, NO! Not on the Vortex!!!"
Rondo: " Vortex works for me! "
