Mortimer!

I'm just back from CostumeCon! I can now reveal the Top Sekrit project I've been plugging away at for the last few weeks. Meet...

MORTIMER the Warg!

wargsit

I'd had an idea for a skit that I've been dying to do for years...and this year's CostumeCon was the perfect opportunity: semi-local con (driving distance), creative partner for other character (yay, Lynette!) and time (year off from AX). If I can clip out our skit, I'll Youtube it.

He was christened "Mortimer" when Lynette first saw him. She had done an effing-amazing job on her orc costume and I felt she deserved to name him, despite the ignoble nature of his title. I didn't want to eat up too much of her time on a fun project (three boys, farm, husband, a cornmaze, plus writing and costuming career), so I'd told her I just needed an orc costume for the warg to play off of: a simple oatmeal-and-latex level costume would be fine. Then she does this piece of work. Guh+WOW! This is a completely scratch-built orc!

We got totally crushed by the competition in the presentation awards (ie, zippo!), but we got best craftsmanship in the Master category! Woo! Congrats to [livejournal.com profile] bladespark and [livejournal.com profile] hoshikage for their huge wins in both craftsmanship AND presentation! Well-deserved and earned!

Nothing but a big ham...but the LAdies love it!

Phenomenal, as always

Though it looks like its probably one heck of a sweaty beast to wear.

He wasn't that bad to wear, but moving him is work (because of his constuction), so I really work up a sweat if I have to move any distance.
