I know this is completely off-topic, but I wanted to write you this information before I forget again!
To your friend who is interested in Asian Ball-Jointed Dolls, the two best resources are Den of Angels/DOA (http://denofangels.com/) the site has a great FAQ while the forums have a ton of information that's updated regularly. Just a warning though- the crowd there has a generally younger feel and some silly questions and drama come up often.
The other that was recently established is Resinality (http://www.abjds.com). It's the brainchild of a few former DOA moderators who were looking for a more comprehensive way to look up common knowledge - so they created a wiki for doll companies and info. It's in it's growing stages, but crowd there are older and more mature.
There are other places to look, but those are the two I frequent~ I hope this helps your friend out! ^_^
