K0he Sci Fi Channel is having a "made-for" festival of films tomorrow (Sunday): a bad-movie bonanza! Looks like apocolyptic future + mutants! Sounds like a great day to do some heavy-duty house-cleaning!

Right now I'm watching another "made-for", a giant monster made-for called, "Reptilian". Ridiculous plot, bad dialogue and one-take acting. Great stuff! And even though the monster is bad CG (boo!), at least they show it a LOT (as opposed to trying to hide its mediocraty with flash-cuts).

EDIT: Oh, now I get it! "Reptilian" is the re-named piece of Korean cheese, "Yongary"! That explains the good miniatures and bad mattes! They should have stuck with foam goliaths!

Yes, "Reptilian" is the Americanized "2001 Yonggary," which is a remake of the original South Korean "Taekoesu Yonggary," aka "Yongary, Monster from the Deep." It was their attempt to muscle in on the Japanese-dominated "giant monsters smashing things" genre. Needless to say, it didn't work out all that well. I'm not sure why Yonggary loses a 'g' in the translation, though.

I personally am skipping most of today's offerings, but I'm currently watching yesterday's "Deep Shock," the first movie to showcase the awesome scary power of giant electric eels. Keep an eye on the Sci-Fi Channel... there's a veritable swarm of "mutant, giant, or simply pissed off animals on the rampage" movies heading our way in the next few months. Whee!

But...Terminal Invasion has *Bruce Campbell* and *Chase Masterson*! So far this has been a pretty quality "B" movie/shlock/entertainment. Decently intriguing story, great character actors, good production values. All it needs are some werewolves and I'd buy the DVD!

OMG-- one character (smart-mouth black guy) just mentioned the Sci Fi Channel! Talk about pandering!

Hey, I said "most" of today's offerings! I've got "Terminal Invasion" safely stashed in my ReplayTV box, and am about to start watching it even as I type these words you're reading right now! I'm not gonna pass up a Bruce Campbell movie!
