First, for Diadexxus: Antron Fleece is only available (wholesale) from one company that I know of:

Hampshire Textiles (in Vermont, I think): (603) 528-4220.

If you're not in the market for a full roll (50 yards?), you might be able to get a list of retail distributors that are local for you. You want the heavier weight fleece.

Pirates (fictional and corporate): Katzenberg blamed the public's lack of interest in cel animation for the failure of "Sinbad". What a load of crap. Why not blame a lousy story; blame ineffectual characterizations and boring character designs; blame the generally soulless and vapid heart of the film. Otherwise how would he explain the popularity of "Lilo and Stitch"? Or even "Spirit"? He has gall to blame a -medium- rather than any aspect of the film that he had control over. When "Shark Slayer" bombs (it has that feel), I wonder what he will blame...

And then there are the pirates of "Pirates of the Caribbean"! Yes, one of my favorite Disneyland rides (after the Tiki Room), I was thrilled from the first frames (that I saw...) of the movie! Everything that Dreamworks did wrong on Sinbad they did right on Pirates. VERY similar stories, too: two men from different backgrounds must work to a common end (and are hindered/complicated by a woman both have feelings for). But I LOVED the Jack Sparrow character from the beginning! One of my favorite hero entrances: Standing noble and proud, coming in to dock... as the camera pans down...hahaha! He reminded me a little of the Snake Bliskin character from "Escape From NY". Fantastic movie! Pirates! Yay!

A picture of the sparrows that built a nest under the eaves of my back porch: I didn't even notice them until the poopage on the ground started to become plentiful... and after the disaster with the mockingbird (still not back, slumming at the neighbors), I was careful to avoid looking at them. I think they've just fledged...

When we first see Jack Sparrow; first in close, surveying the seascape before him, from the top of the mast, then panning back to see the rather.. dinky ships he's actually on we get a great introduction as to what kinda person we're dealing with. No long exposition, no complicated backstory, just those two shots, and we get it.

Perhaps the best setup to a character I've seen in a while.

And his interplay with the guards on the dock was some sort of wonderful Black Adder / Abbott and Costello amalgam that convinced me that this was going to be a pretty well written movie.

*nods* Pirates I think is my favorite movie of the year, even over Matrix and XMen! It was just THAT much more fun.

As for Antron fleece. Well damn. hehe 50 yards is a LOT.. was hoping to find 6 or 7 yards of solid grey for an idea I have for someone. What does this run per yard roughly?

You can have any color of Antron Fleece you like as long as it's white. Yup, they only sell it in one color, but it takes dyes wonderfully. Rit works fine, though you have to be careful not to get it too hot or you lose the shiney aspect of the material. And air dry, don't use a dryer.

Call them and see if there are any local distributors. The stuff isn't that expensive, just hard to find. Worst comes to worst you can always try a polar fleece (which does come in colors).

*nod* Yesss!... Another friend of mine told me he feels it's the best movie of the year also!

And good point about Katzenberg's inapplicable cop-out...
I hate ta say it, but will it take Sharkslayer bombing to whip execs into a reality check? Why didn't that first tomb raider movie do it?

I suspect there are unseen reasons, such as maybe the bean counters behind the scenes dictating that over the long haul, both mediums can fail, but losses for CGI films may eventually be smaller, so the CEOs want us to believe that CGI is favored, so they can keep control over their artistic elements and get the staff count lower as time goes on :/

Of course we know that with good planning, *both* types of films can be made effectively.. but how often does an exec admit that the writing is what wins a film, rather than their marketing and executive savvy...?

Sinbad rambling.

It's bad that Katzenberg would blame a lack of interest by the general public in hand-drawn animation. I think the interest is definitely there, but a lot of animated films seem to miss their target audience (and then again, some don't.) "Lilo and Stitch" actually turned a profit for Disney, whereas a lot of others have not in recent years, so I've heard.. I didn't think "Sinbad" was all that horrible, myself, but I can see there was room for improvement. Still better than "Eldorado," if you ask me.

"Pirates of the Carribean" was great. I loved Jack Sparrow's eye makeup, in addition to a great character wonderfully played, of course. Heh.
