I'm not sure why this article made me so angry. But it did.

what is it that you're angry about, that the animal is allowed to kill fawns or that people are complaining about it?

Oh-- the hypocracy of an organization (whose mission statement purports to present the wolf in an unbiased manner and to correct stereotypes) feeling all squeamish and horrified at their wolf doing what comes naturally. This essay reeks of the touchy-feely, "mystical wolf" garbage that too many people are perpetuating.

I love wolves/dogs/canids in general, along with their role in folklore (ravening beast, trickster, etc.). I'm just bothered by sentiments along the lines of, "The wolf is a wild creature..." followed by such lines as, "...ew, yuck! He's killing a cute bunny!" or "...No one should own a wolf...we do, but we're *experts* and look how cool we are!"

I see...
I don't really know that much about wolves, so I can't really say as much as you can about it... but it sounds like a pretty pretentious article. Like the authors are trying to glorify themselves through their wolf.

You nailed it-- I think that's what bothers me. Vanity "pets". Apparently they got the wolf because a documentary film wanted to show what a "wolf ambassador" does (the wolves sanctuaries take to schools, etc. for educational purposes). So these nitwits got a wolf cub to raise just for this film...and didn't expect to have to take care of it afterwards (apparently the film maker said he'd take responsibility...yeah). As if there aren't dozens of legit sanctuaries and wolves around the country that could have been used instead. bleah.
