Boy, it's been a long time since I've heard that great sound! And I was even up at the time-- though I'd totally forgot they were landing here this morning. Neat!

Even worse for you: someone in Granada Hills reported *seeing* the shuttle! That means the sky was clear for the first shuttle landing in ages...I'd heard that they might land here, but got distracted and went to bed. Too many years of waking up to find overcast skies (and then years of Florida landing). The guy in Granada Hills said it looked like a shooting star!

One of the really fun memories I have of living with my family in Colorado '83 or so was my Dad reading in the newspaper about being able to see the Space Shuttle in orbit at night and so he got my brother and I to stand outside around 8pm where we waited for a bit and finally got to see it zooming across the sky as a blip of light. That was awesome! Especially after having seen it in person flying over our school; during one of the cross-country flights from Edwards back to the Cape the Shuttle / 747 ferry did a stop at Fort Carson, CO and it made a special low altitude flyover of the Air Force Academy. I was on recess during elementary school at the time and just went nuts seeing it overhead.

Love those memories!
