Foam

There are a number of different foams cited as being used in costume construction, but it's hard to describe them. This should help: a photo of four different types of foam (different thicknesses of two of them).

Top to bottom

L-200 aka "evac foam" / closed-cell (no holes) 3/4" thickness, white

Mattress foam, low resiliency / open-cell (holes) 1" thickness, beige

"Scott Foam" aka reticulated foam / open-cell (big holes) 1" thickness, black

Mattress foam, high resiliency / open cell (holes) 1" thickness, beige

L-200 2" (white)

Scott foam 2" (black)

Hope this helps!

Hey... cool!

It's be great also to hear for what specific applications each foam is preferred in (cutting, gluing, what parts of the costume body it's best in, etc.)
