Trickle- trickle, splash-splash!

Trickle, Trickle, Splash, Splash
Tell me how long will this rain last
The rain keeps droppin', there ain't no stoppin',
Tell me how long will this rain last
(Imagine the Manhatten Transfer singing this Clarence Bassett classic!)

As of early this evening, this rainy season has cracked L.A.'s top five recorded wettest years...and will likely make it to number two or three by tomorrow! Pretty impressive considering we've still got a few months to go!

Since Frieda has to wear a cone, she can't come and go as she pleases through her doggy door. Since Wednesday I've been sleeping in the kitchen (not as bad as it sounds: there's a nice couch there), disciplining myself to sleep lightly and wake up when I hear her jingly collar or the *clunk* of the cone hitting a wall. So far, so good...even better than good. I've managed to hear most of her awakenings (she's on a two-hour schedule apparently) and even when I have to wait for her to do her complete "tour" (make sure the yard is safe from the evil coyotes) for any number of minutes, I'm not all that tired. Personally, I thought I would be *exhausted* by this (like parents with newborns), but so far it's been pretty okay. The rain doesn't help (she comes in wet, shakes off on me and the walls and I still have to wipe her off), but I'm doing all right.

Last night was amazing: no dog walk, since there was a fist-and-arm of green-yellow (even red) on the NOAA radar, all of it funnelled right through the San Fernando Valley and Santa Clarita. Amazing.

EDIT: we leapfrogged into third-wettest season this evening...now we're just five inches from the all-time record!

The weather back there made the national news tonight. They showed some impressive film of the funnel clouds that were spotted near Sacramento! That giant sink-hole was shown as well.

I only caught a taste of this weather while I was there in December. There were tornado watches issued for OC the night before I flew back east!

The sink hole is right near work: I often get on that street just south of where the sink hole formed to sneak into FedEx. It's adjacent to an old gravel pit. I laughed at the picture in the paper today showing a cement truck pouring a load into the hole-- like trying to fill a canyon with a teaspoon! And then, later, when the next wave of rains fell, the edges looked exactly like a miniature Niagra Falls!

I don't have to imagine the Manhattan Transfer singing that song ... I own a copy! :D

I -Luv- the 'Transfer! Got to see them live in SF many years ago!

Ditto. And don't forget their other water-logged classic, "Blee Blop Blues" :)

I hope the weather gets better for you soon! I feel lucky that we've had a lot of breaks in the rain and I hope that you have had some too.

I can really understand sleeping light for the dog. Been there, doing that... not much else to say *g* I wish you all the best for a speedy recovery and such! Hope the cone gets to come off soon!

Still dry here. Daytime highs in the 50s, overnight lows in the 20s/30s.
Clear and lightly breezy. Its terrible. No rain in weeks now. Almost no visible snow on most of the local mountains. Some watersheds have as little as 7% of normal snowpack, most less than 50%.
