LJ Weirdness

Is anyone else having this problem? Some of the posts by people on my friends list aren't showing up when I look at my list. However, if you go to look at their entries on their LJ, you can see the posts that didn't show up when I looked at my friends list. Example: [livejournal.com profile] auryanne has posts from the last few days that are visible on her journal, but not on the friends list (verified when I called Martes and the same thing happened on her list).

In other words, it's like some posts just aren't being added to your friends list. Weird.

If you backdate your posts, they won't show up on the friends list.

Really?!? That's weird...no wonder I never say any of Tracy's mass of backdated posts. So the only way to see those posts is to go to that person's LJ? That seems so inefficient...how would one ever know there were backdated posts to see?

Oh, and Thanks for the info! I R LJ 'tard.

Yeah, it is kind of annoying. There is a way to backdate and have the posts show up on the friends list (I've done it with my stripedhyena LJ), but you can't backdate farther than a previous post and have it show up. I can explain it better if you like.

Actually, that would be useful. I usually don't bother backdating because I'm not that precise about when (ever the procrastinator, I just get to posts when I get to them and that's good enough). But the info is good to know and might help others (hint).

Thanks!
(at least I got to use the "weird" mood icon! It's my fave!)

Okay, if you have a journal you haven't used for a while, you can try this yourself.

Say the most recent post in your journal is dated Oct. 1, 2004 and today is Oct. 7, 2004. If you wanted to post something dated Sept. 25, 2004, LJ would basically force you to click the backdate button, and your post would not show up on your friends list. This is because you have a more recent post (the Oct. 1 one).

However, if your most recent post is Oct. 1, 2004, today is Oct. 7, 2004, and you wanted to post something for Oct. 5th, 2004, you can do that WITHOUT LJ forcing you to click the backdate button. You just put in the different date, and your post will show up on your friends' lists with the Oct. 5 date.

At least, this is the way it used to work for me. I don't know if LJ has changed that since they put in the new update screen.

Ohhh... I guess my FO-post is messing things up. Hrm :|

Wow that is really weird. Luckily I don't backdate any of my entries. But that's something to think about if I want to be sneaky :D

You're the third person who has told me that you can't see posts in friends view. I think it's time to call LJ support!

Yeah, you didn't back-date any, right? (At least, it didn't look like there'd be any reason to have back-dated them.) Weird...and I'm too lazy to do a check on all of my friends list. Keep us posted if support says anything...
