"Friends List"

Again, I hate that LJ calls it that. I've always seen LJ as a kind of large party, where people share conversations and interests. Sometimes one drifts from group to group, listening with interest one moment, getting distracted the next.
I only do major re-shuffing of the friends list a couple times a year. The usual reason for adding or deleting someone is rarely personal (I hate/love you!). I believe that a journal is very personal-- no one has the right to dictate what one does/says/believes in their personal space. At the same time, if I'm uncomfortable with something, I'll just wander away. Most common reasons for removal: Intense (or just too many) posts on politics or religion; HUGE POSTS without cuts; adult-context art or links or text that isn't cut (with warnings). On rare occasions I've dink'd LJ'ers who I just have too little in common with. No offense intended. If you've been deleted and you're curious, post a reply here (or email me: furtech at akela doht com) and I'll explain. Nothing's permanent.
I've also been under a lot of stress lately. One too many posts about the HAWT SEHX you've just had or sugary posts about your sweetie (non-stop gushing) or posts solely made up of eighty-four lines of "<3 <3 <3"'s (or equally annoying stuff) have gotten dink'd. I don't hate you...I'm just not in the mood. I apologize if this comes off as arrogant or snobby (or just grouchy), but as I said above: journals are very personal things. Me? I don't like to be annoyed.
If I haven't added you, it could be that I just haven't updated my friends list yet. These days I generally won't add you unless I know you (or met IRL). You can always email me (see above) if I'm just not recognizing your LJ name. Thanks for your patience! And apologies to any toes I've stepped on.
