Howl Con?
Has anyone heard of Howl Con?
? Is anyone going?

I'm wary of werewolf-themed get-togethers. I remember reading about some of the early ones, where invariably they involved a lot of liquor and foolishness (usually a number of underagers getting dangerously drunk). One memorable moment at one of these was when one well-known member got stupid-drunk, then continued to leap over the bonfire until he finally tripped and fell in. Not my kind of fun.
At the other end of the spectrum are the hug-wolf cons: a bit too spiritual and poofy for my tastes.
Any info would be appreciated!

Um. The first guest does not impress: total spirit-poof. OMG...I hoped they were just listed in alphabetical order, not in stature to the con, but apparently no.
Most of the other guests seem decent (I'll bet the Wolf Park reps will be surprised!)...until we get to "Lupa". I understand how she came to her name...but despite the bio I'm curious as to why one would choose a nick that means "Whore" in Latin and Italian...
I am completely on the fence again. Since I'd probably drive, it's a bigger decision than usual for me.

Speaking of werewolves, I was just about to mail you. There's a new Scooby-doo movie coming out (I know, bear with me) that features the kind of werewolves you like. I think it's theatrical release.

Scooby Doo: is this a live action film? Or is this the animated "Big Top Scooby Doo"? I know the animated film just aired on Cartoon Network and does indeed (for whatever reason...???) feature several werewolves. If this is a theatrical live-action feature, I'll have to check it out!

Trouble is, I'm less likely to have much contact with the guests (except for panels-- and who goes to those?!?) and more likely to be with the crowds. I've been to small cons where I don't know anyone and usually end up fleeing after about an hour. It -would- be a great venue to try out a werewolf costume, but...I'm just as likely to chicken out and hide in my room.

And Oregon needs more cons.
