Top Sekrit!

I know what I want to do for my next big costume set: I'm getting a group together to do The Marauders! Moony, Padfoot, Wormtail and Prongs. Not sure if it'll be for laffs or not... but a biker gang of those animals with leather "Marauders" jackets would be so cool! Or maybe in Hogwarts uniforms in mid-change. I'm jazzed!

Dont kill me, but what is "The Marauders"? Do tell/show!

It's a Harry Potter reference relating to the 3rd book in the series. I could provide spoilers, or you read the book or wait for the 3rd movie :>

That would indeed be most cool :>

Yay! The Marauders! And yeah, I should've put a spoiler warning on the post (but I thought I was the last person in the world who hadn't read the whole series yet!). So... don't read the spoiler if you haven't read the third book yet... Though I still won't detail what happens, just what animals they'd consist of.

D'oh! The "LJ cut" thingie doesn't work in comments! So I've at least put a big gap before the spoilers. So...if you hate any hint at all of what's in the third book, STOP READING NOW!!! (for all the good that does... I feel bad)

POTENTIAL SPOILERS BELOW!

The Marauders are a rat, stag, wolf and a black dog. I'm figuring that I already have the bodies for the stag and the black dog-- they'd just need new heads. Though I'm thinking of doing the black dog as a more Newfie-styled big body/head.

I've been wanting to do a rat for years. I'd played around with doing either Justin or Jenner 'ala' Bluth, but just never got that final spark of inspiration to get started.

Ironically, for someone with more wolf-type costumes laying around than almost anyone I know, I'd actually do a new costume for that character. More like the illustration in the books.

Now I just have to wait to hear back from the others: gotta see if they're planning on hitting the (sf/fantasy) cons I want to do this set at. Likely it'll be either CostumeCon, Norwescon or SDCC (or possibly the next Harry Potter Symposium, if they actually ever un-bunch their panties and have a real masquerade!).

I vote for SDCC, since I'm going to be there this year! :)

You are?

So who's doing the CyberRays game that weekend?
It's also AnthroCon and Mascot Games weekend.
Tho if I don't get a job by then, I'll be working the game.

Very cool! I would love to see your interpretations of these characters. Who else is working with you or is that not to be revealed yet?

You, too, eh? :> I know Jimmy and I have both considered Justin.

You had to spark my interest. I spent yesterday morning upgrading a motherboard whilst listening to the last two CDs of the Prisoner of Azkaban audiobook. Doing a morphic Marauders group sounds like a great idea, and it's got appeal beyond the furry community.

I'm curious who else you've got involved, and where you might be showing these guys off at.

That's one of the things that appeals to me about this set: I could show it at sf cons as well as general-public type events. I think it would be kind of lost at a furry con. I guess a lot would depend on the direction of the design.

I'm not sure if I would do this for this year's SDCC: I don't think there's enough time to do four heads and two bodies. I'm thinking next year's Costume Con, Worldcon, SDCC or Norwescon. I'm talking to some folks I know from sf masquerades. A couple of them are good at sewing people-type clothes and such which could be useful depending on the take we choose (ie, just animals or animals-in-Hogworts-clothes).

I don't know if you have email notification turned on; I forgot your email address.

I'd been pondering doing this kind of project too, and we have almost all the suits already. Thing is would be kind of smaller scale. I haven't even asked anyone else about it yet, since I wanted to talk to you about it first.

It'd be for a local appearance coinciding with the release of HP 5 -- in three weeks. I'm not certain it'll even happen-- Trying to arrange a character appearance of simulated characters like this in the non-furry world just sounds... difficult. I'll tell you more later.
