"Nuclear, Schmuclear. Bop You Wit Dis Lollipop."
I don't know if anyone has made the comparison yet, but it seemed so obvious to me:

Ever since I saw the pictures of North Korea's new Dear Leader, the picture of Herbie stuck in my head. It's like they're twins...or Jong-un is the live-action version of Herbie.
For those of you totally confused, Herbie is a character from a bizarre comic of the Silver Age called Herbie The Fat Fury , about a fat kid who speaks and acts in a monosyllabic deadpan and has god-like powers from the lollipop he got from The Beyond. The comic is surreal and slapstick and has a huge cult following. I think Dark Horse released a collection of the original comics.

The resemblance is remarkable too, though something about Jong-un's snotty expression makes me want to punch him in the face a lot more.

I loved the Herbie series; it was such a bizarre concept, with suitable art by Ogden Whitney. They've tried reviving it a couple of times in the 90's - I think John Byrne even did an issue - but it never really took off. Pity, that.
I think, if I'm not mistaken, there are three volumes of the collections published thus far; I have the first, and plan to eventually get the rest.

...Which is of course unfair, as we have no idea what he thinks, or _if_ he thinks, or is addicted to the hedonistic lifestyle which his family seems to have adopted.
His grandfather was hailed as "Great Leader"; his father was declared "Dear Leader". All sorts of propaganda could be made of pictures like this one, in leaflets dropped from balloons, entitled "Chubby Leader".
