I'm so tempted to sneak up to Seattle this weekend.

There's:
Norwescon (2nd best sf con anywhere) & Tai-Pan folks.
Seattle spring.
Northwest food!
Rainforests.
Raspberry freezer jam.
Snow!!

Too many obligations down here. I've even got plenty of miles to get a free ticket. And the dogs would really love the snow. Maybe I'll just sneak up to Mt. Pinos for a day next week instead. Hopefully there will still be snow when I really do sneak up there in May (fingers crossed).

Will you be at CF? I would love to finally meet you...

It is the first weekend in June.

hmmm... I think Hoshikage would debate the 2nd best-ness or Norwescon. she has had some rather poor experiences.

A few of us are going out Sailing Saturday, as well, if you'd like to join us.

And the big anime con (Sakura con) is also this weekend. I also have enough frozen blackberries for at least one pie.

We are having a blast at NorWesCon... but then, I'm biased, having attended all of them in the last 24 years.

I also disagree with the second bestness, but because I don't think it belongs so low. :P

Would love to see you. Understand about the obligations!

Is CF= Califur? Maybe. I usually hit it on Saturday to see people. The people who run it keep doing things that aggravate me and keep me away-- inviting reality TV, the freak-press, hotels with weird policies-- but if I know to look for you, I'd definitely make the effort to come down and schmooze with you!

Norwescon is my favorite regularly attended (such as it is) convention. They have fantastic panels, terrific masquerade (probably the best regional sf masq), a great hotel and the con has a good "flavor" to it. I know she's had some bad experiences there, but as an attendee I have more fun there than at all but a handful of cons. Plus, SEATTLE!

That is so weird. It sounds neat, but from what you describe, the weather's too warm for the snow to do anything but turn into mud instantly. Bummer.

Thanks for the invite, but at this point...probably unlikely. Where do you go in the Sound? Do you just do a loop, or do you visit islands or have destinations?

Yeah, Sakuracon has gotten huge. I hate that they're the same weekend now-- was much better when they were shifted a bit.

As far as sf cons go, only Minicon ranks higher for me. But then, I haven't been to a Minicon in -years- and that may have changed. 4th St. Fantasy Faire was also a top-rate sercon, but I'm pretty sure they've ceased. So I could be convinced that NWC is the best sf con going these days...

Cons I would absolutely attend if money and time were no object: Norwescon and Eurofurence. Second tier: ComiCon, CostumeCon, Further Confusion, maybe Furfright (only been to one so far).

You're now the third person whose taste I respect who has recommended FurFright... damn. We need to find a way to attend, I think.
