Brother Bear no Hoser!

I'm relieved: I finally checked and was able to confirm that the moose-characters are indeed being voiced by Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas! I was afraid they had just ripped off the characters for the film. I'm happy Moranis and Thomas were willing to bring those characters back out: I -love- the McKenzie Brothers! I'd go to see this just for them!

Get this, one of them is named "Rutt". Bwahahah! XD

Seriously? I already hate those two stupid mooses. They almost make me not want to see the film.

[identity profile] auryanne.livejournal.com 2003-10-22 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww, not me... But I have the feeling that they're over-representing them in the trailer, ie, they are not as important to the movie as the trailer makes them appear. I could be wrong, though, we'll find out soon :D

Yeah, I have no idea who the "McKenzie brothers" are, and I hate the fact that a film set in prehistoric times references a current pop-culture thing. Urrgh.

But it's my little beef, carry on! The Art of book is really pretty, though. I think it will be a beautiful film, I'm just not thrilled with the mooses. :D

I'm pretty sure they're just comic relief/side characters...but it doesn't bode well for the film if they have to over-use those characters (ie, Disney must think they're the only good thing in the movie).

The McKenzie Bros. movie was weak, but the comedy album they did was a riot! They were regular characters on the original Sat. Night live era.

As for cultural anachronisms, Disney and Dreamworks have been using it to death ever since "Alladin" and Robin Williams. Bleah. Funny sometimes...but ONLY sometimes!

Dude

I cannot believe you just said Strange Brew was weak... !!!

HOSER!

Toques roole!

[identity profile] furtech.livejournal.com 2003-10-23 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
No, like, YOU'RE a knob! The record was like a million times funnier than the film! Geeze! (Except for the very beginning with Darth Hoser).

I was curious about this too. It sounded like it was a couple of guys trying to immitate their voices, but then it's been so many years their voices have probably changed some.

It's nice to find out it really is them. They could very well be the only good thing about this film. I'm hoping I'm wrong, but so far the trailers haven't left me with that good an impression of the film.

Whaaaat?

[identity profile] auryanne.livejournal.com 2003-10-23 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
Call me crazy, but this looks ten bajillion times better than anything they've put out (CGI excepted) in the past several years.

I thought it looked good, too- and I like the moose! I've laughed at some of the commercials I've seen with them in it. I didn't know they were "caricatures" of the Strange Brew characters (which I haven't seen- sounds like I should...). I'm hoping this will be a good one from Disney again, finally!

The story sounds interesting, and I've heard it's taken/inspired from an actual Native American myth. I'm a little worried that it might get a bit heavy handed with the message.

The two big things that have put me off on the film are the style of animation. The fuzzy/pastel look doesn't do a lot for me. The characters look a little blurry or something is the best way I can describe it. Also, the character of the little bear sounds like he could be really annoying.

That said, I'm going to see the movie and give it a chance and hope that my original impressions are proven wrong.

Man, I must be getting old, because I caught the Bob and Doug reference immediately. The official website features Rutt and Tuke pretty prominantly, and I'm hoping to catch the show at the El Cap this weekend with some friends, interested?

I actually have the ALBUM. Not a CD. With Geddy Lee on it and everything.

This weekend will be total chaos...but we may see you there!

Swweet.

I can't believe I just dropped $25 on a movie. I'll buy the DVD for less than that!

The popcorn and coke I get had better have a gold lined cup!

Lookin' forward to Friday! :D
