Here's the flickr set

A teacher friend of mine wanted to give her dogs one last big dog-day before school started. She'd heard of R0ndo and Apache's romp at the beach-- so we took Monday off and travelled on down.

The surf was MUCH rougher today than the last time (almost flat) and Apache DID NOT LIKE! She spent the entire beach-time hiding under a rock. Literally.

The other dogs had their usual spaz-time.

In order to console Apache, we checked out the Huntington Beach Dog Park. Very nice-- lots of bark (haha) ground cover and shade. Apache was MUCH happier and became her usual happy self.

We also ate at two dog-friendly cafes: "Alice's Breakfast at the Park" (fantastic cinnamon rolls!) and "The Lazy Dog Cafe". The latter is a dog-themed (decoration-wise) restaurant in the style of a BJ's Brewery. The upside: you can have your dogs with you on the patio. Every table there had at least one dog (we had four). They have dog-eats as well.

Huntington Beach is easily the most dog-friendly city I've ever been to (besides Vancouver). Technically they have the same laws as Los Angeles-- but they interpret them differently. Very differently: in L.A. you can't even have a dog on a restaurant patio and never off-leash (the beach stipulates dogs must be "under the owner's control"). Plus, fantastic weather and a beautiful neighborhood. Love it.
