Rain! Come!
Apr. 1st, 2010 12:55 amBusiest I've been in a long time, especially on non-costume stuff. I need to organize photos from hikes and the BCR St. Pat's Day event, the Great Planting Thing, etc. But days have been filled solid: waking up, quickly dealing with business, then spending the rest of the day on the hillside getting my chaparral plants in. Dinner, dogwalk and then home to bed. Rinse, repeat.
Part of the rush was because of the "storm" that was supposed to arrive today: total non-event. Still, some reports still claimed a storm on the way late tonight/early Thursday.
( Just looked at the NOAA site: )
Guess they're right! Hopefully it'll soak the hillside and the plants we just got into the ground. I didn't have time to water the manzinitas before the sun disappeared. I could have guaranteed a big storm by leaving my equipment out tonight, but I -just- got my weed-whacker (Li battery!!) and as much as I love rain, I'm not leaving my baby out tonight. Of course, I did leave all of the drip-irrigation supplies in the drainage ditch at the top of the hill...
EDIT: Well, that was a big -not-. I probably jinxed it by making this anticipatory post...but the storm literally dodged around this area: it was like it hit Ventura and ricocheted south just enough that L.A.-proper got rain and San Diego got a ton, but we're dry as a bone. Nnrg. I need a weather-collie (clouder-collie?) that can properly herd the weather this way.
