Sunday is almost a free day at Eurofurence: there's the group photo at eleven, then pretty much nothing for the rest of the day (until the dead dog party). It's harder for Europeans to get Monday off and many had a long drive ahead of them.

Aeto, Frysco, Steve and I took advantage of this and went into town. We stopped at the Haseltal tavern for lunch-- this is the same place we went to last year, still run by the friendliest Marxist I've ever met. Anyone wanting authentic German cuisine should try this place-- the food's great.

Next stop: The Waffen Museum
Suhl used to be home to several mines and a large weapons manufacturer (the Sauer family, as in: "SIG-Sauer"). There is a large museum of firearms in the middle of town and Steve was interested in checking it out. If historical firearms are your thing, this is the place! I was particularly interested in the wheel-lock rifles: I'd love to fire one someday! "Bzzzwrrrllll...BANG!"

That night was the annual con-staff and guest dinner. Last year we didn't get served until ten and the curse continued this year: no dinner until almost eleven...but at least this time the steak house did't run out of steak! At one point, in order to help the undermanned staff, Kage and his family helped bus tables and wash dishes...but it didn't help. At least I got to talk with several people who I wanted to chat with-- and even if I had gotten food earlier, I probably would have been back at the hotel doing the same, so I wasn't all that bothered.

Dead Dog Party was more Candlepins and talking. Dance went on late into the night!
