Thursday was the first full day of the con. I had a panel on exotic materials in the afternoon, so I put off going in to Suhl until Friday (when I was panel-free). Most of the day was socializing and catching up. I saw Fatkraken again and we schmoozed costuming; helped a minotaur on with his armor; saw the dealer's room and still made it to my panel on time.
Late night caberets were new: Thursday's was a "naughty" gameshow-- mostly bachelor party-type games and contests, so I left it for the lobby early on. It's hard to convey how much fun it was just sitting around talking about everything-- from costumes passing by to interesting stuff in the news to just finding out what everyone has been doing. People are having a really good time and the mood is light-- to the point of having its own energy. I didn't go to the dance (except for pics), but it went on until dawn with a number of people still on the floor when dawn's light peeked in. I think I managed to get to be sometime around three AM.
Other highlights: seeing one of the heads I made for the charity auction again! I forgot to take pics of him when I donated him and seeing both the head and the costume the buyer made was great! Nicely done!
A moderately amusing moment: the mighty tech crew got stuck in the elevator on the way to the caberet! Since it was a glass elevator, much friendly mockery ensued.
