Today was the Summer Border Collie Rescue Funday up in the high desert! The weather was wonderful-- hot, but dry with a breeze. Much better than last year's 109f! For the most part the gathering was the usual sight of dozens of black and white dogs chasing after one poor tennis ball...foods...people and dog-talk.

Highlights this year:

Apache's brother was here! Liffey bears a striking resemblence to his littermate, though they hardly gave each other the time of day-- ignoring each other for the most part (as littermates usually do when they grow up).

He's nearly twice her size (though the pictures don't really show that). He has the more typical "splitty" mask-- half black and half white.

I met the tiniest adult male border I've ever seen: his name is "Twit" and he's only 20lbs! Twit's a neat little dog-- fearless and a real pest to other dogs, but shy and sweet to people.

Oh, and I broke someone's dog. Bad me. I was playing with my dogs, letting them chase the reflection of the sun off my watch when one of the dogs, Reddy, noticed and enthusiastically joined in. Long after we stopped, he was seen staring at the last spot the flicker of light was seen...

This was a good day-- you can tell folks had a good time because no one wanted to leave, even after it was over.

Tomorrow will be neat: I got an invitation to Club 33 at Disneyland! I've never been there, but have always been curious. The occasion is a mutual friend who's in town from Japan. Should be interesting!
