Date: 2008-07-29 04:20 pm (UTC)Hotel: we stay at the Holiday Inn and for just two people, it works out to about $85/night/person. If you get a couple more people in the room, that rate goes down proportionately.
Memberships: when they open pro-reg in March 2009, sign up. You should be able to pull together enough material to qualify (maybe you can get some mileage out of your Boondocks work after all!). Pro-badge = free. Plus, you get a "guest-of" badge, too.
Where SDCC gets expensive is if you go on a crazy-brained shopping spree. Rare drawing books, foreign editions, original art by someone you worship as a GOD-- that sort of thing. If you're really on a budget, you can do what Roz does and bring/get a cooler with cold cuts, PB&J, bread and cereal to survive the weekend and not go out to eat.

Date: 2008-07-29 04:31 pm (UTC)Next year, if she comes out again, we'll definitely have to schedule a meal or outing in advance. I know she really wanted to get to the ocean wildlife area, but didn't have the time this year (or couldn't find anyone with a car that had time).
