Trickle- trickle, splash-splash!

Tell me how long will this rain last
The rain keeps droppin', there ain't no stoppin',
Tell me how long will this rain last
(Imagine the Manhatten Transfer singing this Clarence Bassett classic!)
As of early this evening, this rainy season has cracked L.A.'s top five recorded wettest years...and will likely make it to number two or three by tomorrow! Pretty impressive considering we've still got a few months to go!
Since Frieda has to wear a cone, she can't come and go as she pleases through her doggy door. Since Wednesday I've been sleeping in the kitchen (not as bad as it sounds: there's a nice couch there), disciplining myself to sleep lightly and wake up when I hear her jingly collar or the *clunk* of the cone hitting a wall. So far, so good...even better than good. I've managed to hear most of her awakenings (she's on a two-hour schedule apparently) and even when I have to wait for her to do her complete "tour" (make sure the yard is safe from the evil coyotes) for any number of minutes, I'm not all that tired. Personally, I thought I would be *exhausted* by this (like parents with newborns), but so far it's been pretty okay. The rain doesn't help (she comes in wet, shakes off on me and the walls and I still have to wipe her off), but I'm doing all right.
Last night was amazing: no dog walk, since there was a fist-and-arm of green-yellow (even red) on the NOAA radar, all of it funnelled right through the San Fernando Valley and Santa Clarita. Amazing.
EDIT: we leapfrogged into third-wettest season this evening...now we're just five inches from the all-time record!
