Seattle: Back Home

furtechThe final leg of the roadtrip down to Seattle was short and uneventful: there was a little drizzle of rain, but we made it back before eleven that night.

I took the dogs to Seward for an evening walk and managed to catch the moon rising through the fir trees
: even though I didn't have a tripod, I wanted to attempt to capture the sight in my camera. Not bad, considering a one-second exposure leaning against a tree!
Seward has been the site of many walks this trip, as unwinding was the point of this part of the trip. Seward is close and more than forest-y enough for dog and man. The colors of the park
are just starting to change. Banana slugs are everywhere! Saw some critter swimming the other night, but it was probably just a muskrat and not a river otter. Other trips were to Fairview park, with its spectacular view of Mt. Ranier. Rondo and apache were ready for action!
On Thursday we went over to have dinner with Michael and Gene and talk Tai-Pan stuff. They had a visit from their neighbor's cat: a huge loaf of a cat
that has an imperious attitude to match his ginormous size. He looks and acts just like he walked out of a Kliban drawing!
One day Steve made dog pretzels!
Yesterday we pop'd over to Pike Place Market
to get Tracy treats. The weather was drizzly, so the market was stuffed with tourists. But we got our stash and something for lunch and dashed out again.
Later that evening, Steve ran into this little lady while getting firewood! (<--warning: spider link!) Gah! At least she stayed in her web! Huge, hairy spider. Beautiful in the outdoors, nasty in your hair!
We got in one last Seward walk last night before the rains came. First big storm of the winter-- should get a couple of inches out of it at least. Steady rain today, too: hopefully there will be a break and we can run the dogs at the park. Ice cream at the Husky Deli-- wonderful! Then spaghetti for dinner! Tomorrow-- Home!

Date: 2007-10-02 12:38 am (UTC)What he didn't mention about his trip was the more than natural amount of waffles he e't during the visit. Used up several pounds of waffle mix (Snoqualme Falls mix) and a couple of pints of Grade B maple slurp in the process.
