15 minutes until SoBig...

I guess this is as good a time as any to get off-line... they say that the SoBig virus will hit those 20 computers at 3PM today...and every friday until it's controlled. They've found about half of the 20, but if even one is missed, *Boom*. Total internet gridlock.

Hackers suck.

3PM by which Timezone?

Apparently the virus hunters managed to find and shut down all twenty computers (I have -no- idea how they tracked them down!)...and the whole thing was thankfully a non-event. But it had the makings of something unpleasant: this is the one they've been saying is the fastest propagating virus ever. Hooray for non-events!

(Oh, and it was for 3PM EST, Noon PST (I have no idea where AZ is these days...sometimes you guys are on MST, sometimes PST depending on daylights savings time!)

I know this one hacker who clarified a point to me, commonly misrepresented by the media. Apparently the hackers are benign... it's the crackers and the script kiddies who are responsible for all the woe and viruses and macros and worms, whereas I guess governments and corporations need the help of the hackers to dig us out of it all..

Just a little semantic minutia there :>
