Home again

Finally home again after what seemed like a month (but was only two weeks): I left L.A. for Indiana on the 12th, got back to L.A. on the 15th, then (after a load of wash) drove up to SJ on the 16th.

The Indiana trip was related to finishing a project so that it could be delivered on time (it turns out that shipping -me- there was cheaper than shipping the project to me). The SJ trip was my monthly foray into the Green Zone of family politics and the elderly. I drove in last night, did a dogwalk and pretty much crashed. I'll catch up with posts and posting later.

In the meantime, have a picture of a kitten and a dog:

The cat was in Indianapolis (showing what happens when you put a box down for one-second); the dog is a miniature Australian shepherd (fantastic breed and an adorable dog) that I met at the training seminar I squeezed in between Indiana and family stuff.

Thanks! Welcome back to you, too (I noticed that you're posting again). Hope your pup is doing well!

oh yes! He's doing quite well! We're taking some beginning agility courses right now and he's loving every minute of it.

That mini Aussie is abominably cute!

It gets better (or worse, depending): her name is "Punkin'" and is owned by a very sweet older lady (who admitted that her people give her a hard time about the name-- not a proper name for a woking dog!). Everything Punkin' did was adorable: she ran, scrapped and played just like an Aussie, but in miniature. Smart, with a big-dog-type brain, too!

PS!!!

PS: can you make it down to the Border Collie holiday pot-luck on December 9th??? I'm sure you can find a reason to be in the area...more video equipment, schmoozing, etc.!

I've always wanted a mini aussie... I figured that a full-sized aussie would probably be a bit much, but maybe I could handle a mini someday. And then somehow I wound up with a full size Bordie collie, so...uh.... never mind.
:)

I've met several mini Aussies and they've all been adorable, smart dogs. They're not like the miniature huskies ( Klee-Kai huskies (http://www.akkaoa.org/)), which have a personality somewhere between a Shiba and a Pomeranian (small-dog-brain). In a lot of ways they act like (and from their history probably are) runt-Aussie shepherds.

Not only did you get a full-size BC, but you managed to get the biggest body-type: the long, lanky BC. (And you also have Jake, who almost gets into the miniature horse category). Taiko is a sleek, smart animal: lots of work, but what a fantastic dog!

woot!... glad to have ya back and getting some rest, and to hear that ya had such a great time in India with your Austrian doggy!

*flap flap zooooms away rilly fast....!*

Sorry to interrupt
