It's one thing to "do the right thing" and a totally different situation when you forget what that right thing is. Like many politicians, the FA folk embraced the banner of personal freedom while ignoring the issue of how it affects the group. The opposite extreme happens quite a lot as well (look at the smoking/no-smoking legislation).
