Cats of Baghdad

I just read a post in [livejournal.com profile] was1's LJ about a very powerful news piece by Jke Tapper (of ABC News). Incredible (and depressing) audio piece about just how bad life is in Baghdad-- he was all the more bitter because his team was -trying- to do a piece on "positive news" from Iraq. At the end of the emotional piece, Tapper does manage to end the broadcast on a small light note: about the cats of the news bureau there. Check out Will's (was1's) post and listen to the piece...skip to the end if you just want the cat bits. (Thanks, Will!)

Here are links to the cats on Tapper's ABC blog:

Cute stories: some of the reader comments make a good point.

Ah, thanks for the links to the stories and photos on the cats. That makes for a nice human (feline) interest story.

I was curious when Tapper mentioned the cat pictures on his blog: they weren't easy to find, that's for sure. You'd think a huge organization like ABC would have a better way to navigate their site.

Thanks for the heads up on the podcast: absolutely fascinating broadcast.
