point
Not hard to find the convergent point on this one!

One of the funny things I noticed was how -- without direction -- the dogs would almost naturally position themselves in a perfect formation:

The Triangle Formation This was interesting because they did this over and over again, in almost the same order. I've annotated the pictures to show you who the players are.

Perfect formation out-bound! Here they actually ran out in almost perfect formation. Only Rondo is breaking formation-- never leave your wingman, doof!

The Magnificent Eight or The Wild Bunch? I'd say more of the latter. Fun to watch them run back in side-by-side, though!

Sometimes it was just sloppy fun. Dogs running out in all directions!

Nasty human trickses us! Ball-thrower started to do fake throws. Smart dogs, but surprisingly naive! It took them about four of these fake-outs to figure out what he was doing (except for the tosser's dog, who was used to this).

More who's-what

Another common formation. This one made me laugh because it looks like a basketball formation: The Stack. They would often line up this way...no idea why, but it looks neat!

Eeeeeee, I love it!! :D :D :D

Such wonderful doggies!! :D *tackle-hugs all the dogs, & tosses tennis balls in all directions*

So energetic though - since we live such frantically busy lives (usually stuck behind desks playing computer jockey), it's already sometimes a bit hard to make sure schedule in quite enough Corgi playtime, and I believe they are not QUITE as energetic as Border Collies... although Ms.1-year-old Mor-Beast can go out with me for a 2-hour walk-run, come home, and still have the energy to burst into a spontaneous Corgi-Dash all over the house!

Apropos of "dogs", today was our darling Kiva's 13th birthday (the lovely lady in my icon), so I baked Liver Brownies for the beastie-girls, and shaped a couple of them like a Cardigan Welsh Corgi and a Giant (Dinosaur?) Bone... XD

border collies are almost purely working dogs here in Australia.

Ever watched one or two of them working a flock of sheep?

It's like the music from top gun should be playing in the background.

Heh, we've had fun fake-throwing the ball with my family's border collie, Molly. She was pretty easy to fake out at first too. They're really adorable dogs, as you already know. They're definitely high-maintainence for how obsessive-compulsive they are, but if you have the time for that, they're disposition is really sweet.

I love watchng sheepdogs work! People have said, after watching Rondo play, that I should get him into herding. I'm thinking about it (there are a couple of places down here teaching it), but I can almost picture the ensuing chaos he'd create...

They are just having way too much fun!!!

And trying to fake out an intelligent dog can get quite interesting at times.

Lady (see icon) loved long hikes off leash. Although she would stay close by on the way out, she would tend to run ahead on the way back. When she got ahead by several hundred feet, I would start walking backwards while facing forwards. She would stop...looooook...then come running back and attack my shoes :) Each time she got ahead, I would repeat this until she finally walked nearby, keeping a leery eye on me all the time!

Aren't dogs fun!

One of my friends has a border collie here in Sydney and it got out one day..he got a phone call from the local kindergarten to PLEASE come and get his dog. He got there and found his dog alright ..working the tightest 'flock' of wimpering toddlers you have ever seen. Seems said dog likes 'herding' kids. None were hurt but a few were a bit distressed. they all had a good laugh about it but he was tld to keep his dog a bit better confined for the sake of the mothers.
